Who is Innovasic Semiconductor?
We are an ISO9001-certified, fabless semiconductor company focused on serving the long life-cycle marketplace. The company was founded in 1992 and over the years we have completed over 200 IC designs and shipped well over two million ICs. The majority of our designs have been microcontrollers, peripherals, and custom ICs developed to replace products that were discontinued by the original manufacturer. We have recently expanded our product family to include a line of new communication controllers designed to meet the specific needs of industrial networking.
What makes Innovasic Semiconductor different from other semiconductor companies?
We are focused on solutions for long life-cycle customers. It’s all we do. Our products are designed with only these customers in mind. Most semiconductor manufacturers don’t focus on these customer’s needs because their strategy is to serve the larger consumer markets. For us, the long life-cycle market is a tremendous opportunity and is large enough to provide us with very strong growth over the next five to ten years.
What obsolescence solutions / services do you offer?
We offer a line of standard pin-compatible and software-compatible extended life IC products, available off the shelf. We also offer a custom design and development service providing a cost-effective alternative to last time purchases or system redesigns, when customers are faced with an obsolescence issue. We have provided many customers with this service for replacing both ASICs and standard ICs – digital, analog or mixed signal. We also develop new digital and analog/mixed signal ASICs for some of our long –life-cycle customers.
How do you develop a drop-in replacement IC?
We typically develop the part from scratch to meet the data sheet specification. We compare the performance of our part to samples of the original device to ensure compatibility. Sometimes the customer has access to the original design files, in which case we can convert the design to a different foundry in order to continue to manufacture the device. Through many years of experience, we have developed the necessary intellectual property, tools and capability to do this very efficiently, an also provides us with a very high first-pass success rate.
